JOSHUA J

Joshua J is a multi-talented independent artist hailing from Amsterdam. The 23 year old Dutch born finds his roots in the Caribbean and West Africa. He was raised in foster care due to drug abuse in his biological family.

His musical journey started by learning how to play the piano at only six years old. Later on this developed into him teaching himself how to be a producer and even play the drums and bass guitar.
On March 8th of 2019, exactly six years after his grandmother passed away he released his debut album '1998'. This project dedicated to his biological mother and grandmother turned out to be the kickstart of his rapidly evolving musical career.

'1998' received high praise by outlets such as: Pitchfork, Earmilk, Complex Uk, Wonderland magazine, Vice and Julie Adenuga's radio show on Beats1.
Right after the release he started touring as a support act for established artists like: Boyz II Men, Anderson .Paak, Saba and Col3trane. After reaching a wider audience his single 'Lock My Door' got picked up by DR. Dre on his 'Beats of the week' Apple Music playlist.
After releasing a series of self produced singles and developing himself musically throughout the Covid-19 pandemic Joshua J released a new project called 'Better Times' in the spring of 2021.
'Better Times' translated the positive changes that occurred in his life after '1998' released. On 'Better Times' you hear a Joshua J that grew into himself more and was able to let go of the grief he felt for his mother and grandmother.
The project accompanied by outstanding visuals edited by himself did really well. One of the leading singles 'No Reply' reached 1 million streams in no time.
A month after the release of 'Better Times' Joshua J sold out his Amsterdam headline show that was held in the main hall of the most iconic venue in The Netherlands, 'Paradiso‘.
Two weeks after his headline show MTV made him artist of the month and he was able to do his fi rst appearance as a international feature on Adeline's project called 'Adi Oasis‘.

Joshua J ended his year by selling out his fi rst ever headline show abroad in 'De Roma' located in Antwerp. 2022 is set out to a promising year for the youngster. Joshua J set tone by releasing a three song EP called 'Outtathisworld' on April 1st.
The special thing about this project is that all of the music and visuals were created in the US. The songs were written in Chicago and the video's were shot in California.
One in Malibu and two in 'Joshua Tree Park' (pun intended). This summer Joshua J will release his fourth EP called 'Polygamy' on which he experimented with the sounds from his Caribbean/West African background.
